Privacy Policy

This is a personal portfolio, not a company with a data department, so this page tries to just say plainly what happens to your information here instead of reading like a template. If anything below is unclear, email Copied to clipboard and ask.

Contact form

Submitting the contact form sends your name, email, and message straight to Max, who handles it personally, and keeps a copy in a database so the request can be answered. This is never gated behind a cookie choice — it is your own message, sent because you asked to send it. It is only ever used to reply to you.

The AI chat (“Ask”)

Your messages are processed by third-party service providers that generate the replies. Conversations are saved by default: using the chat is what triggers it, and the chat window says so. When you leave the page, the transcript (without your IP address or any other identifier) is sent to a private messaging channel and stored in a database, where Max reads it to improve future answers. Saved transcripts are kept for up to three years. Please don't type anything you wouldn't want Max to read.

You can switch saving off at any time. It applies from then on: conversations you have from that point are never sent or stored. To remove one that was already saved, email Copied to clipboard.

Analytics

This site can use Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use it — page views, and Clarity's session recordings of on-page behaviour. These are opt-in: neither script loads, and nothing is measured, until you say Ok in the cookie banner. You can change that at any time via “Cookie settings” in the footer.

Approximate location

The footer's clock and weather widget shows your local time alongside Max's, using a rough, city-level location Cloudflare already provides on every request. It is used once, in the moment, to render that widget, and is not stored, logged, or linked to anything else you do on the site.

Local storage

Three small values are kept in your browser's own storage, not sent anywhere: your analytics cookie choice, your chat-saving choice, and your light/dark theme preference. They are there purely to remember your preferences on your next visit.

What this site doesn't do

No advertising, no ad-tracking pixels, no selling or sharing data with anyone beyond the services named above, and no cross-site tracking. Nothing here requires an account, so there is no login data to speak of either.

Your choices

Change your analytics decision anytime via “Cookie settings” in the footer, and your chat-saving choice with the switch above. To ask what's stored about you, or to have it deleted, email Copied to clipboard — for a one-person site, that request gets handled directly, not routed through a form.

Changes to this policy

If what this site collects changes, this page will be updated and the date at the top will move. There is no separate mailing list announcing it.
